ETUCE takes action to protest against the decision of the Supreme Court to close down Egitim Sen
On 25 May in Ankara, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of closing down the Turkish teachers’ union Egitim Sen that was sued by the Attorney General of Ankara accused of breaching the Turkish Constitution because an article in its Statutes supports the right to education in one’s mother tongue. The ruling represents a serious disrespect of the democratic right to organise.

ETUCE will send urgent appeal letters to José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission and to Josep Borrell Fontelles, President of the European Parliament requesting them to take immediate action in this matter.
