ETUCE Projects
ELFE – The European eLearning Forum for Education                        
ELFE was created with the aim of achieving a better understanding of the strengths
and weaknesses attached to the use of ICT in primary and secondary education. Through
peer reviewing of previous experiences of pilot projects with intensive use of ICT
in secondary schools carried out in five European countries, the ELFE project analysed ICT
in education systems and has influenced debate on the European Policy on
the use of ICT in schools.

Developing non-discriminatory quality education for ROMA children
The project Developing non-discriminatory education for ROMA children aimed to
advocate in favour of Roma children’s integration in primary and secondary education,
mainly in Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia. The specific project aims were to develop
National Action Plans at trade union level for integrating Roma children in education
and to improve the skills and capacities for educators in multicultural classrooms.

TRACE – Trade Unions Anticipating Change in Europe
TRACE is an ETUCE / ETUCO project aiming to improving capacity within European
trade unions to respond to situations of economic and industrial change. Two of the ETUCE’s
networks, “Higher Education & Research Network” and “Working Conditions Network”,
took part in the project.

Social Dialogue projects
The overall objective of the ETUCE’s Social Dialogue projects is to train teacher trade unions
in social dialogue and the Lisbon process and to discuss guidelines for national strategies
in these fields. Furthermore, the projects aim to involve the employers' organisations
together with ETUCE Member organisations in establishing a sectoral Social Dialogue in

ETUI-REHS / ETUCE Project: How to engage effectively in Social Dialogue?
Once a year, ETUI-REHS and ETUCE are cooperating on a project dealing with Social Dialogue.
In September 2005, a High Level Seminar on Social Dialogue took place in Malta titled How to
engage effectively in Social Dialogue? In September 2006 a seminar titled Social Dialogue in
Education – status and further progress took place in Cyprus. For 2007, a High Level seminar is
scheduled to take place in Slovenia in late September.

Work-related stress
The project “Improving expertise on teachers’ work-related stress and assisting ETUCE member organisations in implementing the ETUC-UNICE/UEAPME-CEEP autonomous framework agreement on work-related stress" aims at assessing and improving teachers’ unions expertise on the causes of stress for teachers, its effects, and approaches to reduce it. Furthermore, it aims at promoting the development of industrial relations in this issue from the education sector perspective. The ETUC-UNICE/UEAPME - CEEP autonomous framework agreement on work-related stress is assessed from a “teachers’ perspective” and ETUCE member organisations are assisted in implementing and monitoring the implementation of the Framework Agreement.
